Guardians of Troy
The purpose of the Guardians of Troy is to represent the i5 Squadron of Detachment 060 as a student organization under the USC Viterbi School of Engineering in the efforts to promote the welfare of the students and students within the USC Viterbi School of Engineering Department of Aerospace Studies, enhance their professional and academic development, provide support for student functions and projects, fund engineering-focused student scholarships and events, and foster collaboration and spirit of community service among its members and the University of Southern California.

Detachment 060 to U.S. Space Force

Our detachment is proud to have commissioned multiple officers into our nation’s newest military branch, the United States Space Force (USSF). The USSF protects our country and the freedom to operate in space, keeping it secure, stable, and accessible for military space power and new waves of innovation. Space Operations Officer
Space Operations Officers direct the entire system utilizing satellites that enhance our communication and tracking.
They oversee space surveillance, spacelift, space warning and satellite command and control. By assessing the effectiveness of all space operations and incorporating new technology as it becomes available, they develop future plans for systems, facilities and personnel in order to defend our nation.
Intelligence Officer
Responsible for both protecting our information as well as collecting data from external threats, Intelligence Officers are essential to operational planning and ultimate success.
From analyzing data to coordinating with other services or determining the capabilities and vulnerabilities of an adversary, these highly trained officers provide indispensable knowledge pivotal to Guardians completing their missions.
Acquisitions Manager
The safety and success of our Guardians depend upon having what they need when they need it. And it's up to Acquisition Managers to develop the structures and train their staff to make it all happen. From implementing engineering to securing final shipping, they oversee all aspects of the process to ensure the necessary equipment and supplies get where they need to be anywhere in the world
Cyberspace Effects Operations Officer
Cyberspace Effects Operations Officers are the foremost experts on the vast world of cyberspace. From computerized, satellite, and airborne communications to postal operations and tracking systems, these irreplaceable assets play a critical role in planning missions and ensuring the effectiveness of our cyberspace capabilities.
Engineering Officer
For us to complete our missions, our technology simply cannot fail. Covering a wide range of specialties to include astronautical, human factors, human systems integration, mechanical, electrical, electronic, computer systems, and aeronautics, USSF engineers provide advanced skills and knowledge of their particular specialties. Responsible for everything from the planning to implementation of their projects, these experts are essential to the success of operations all over the world.
Los Angeles And Space
USC and Detachment 060 are uniquely situated in the hub of burgeoning space innovation. Los Angeles is the operating base of many space corporations, including SpaceX, Boeing, and USSF’s very own Space Systems Command. Not only that, but USC has a heritage of Space pioneers, is the alma mater of Neil Armstrong, and is right next to the Endeavour, the only upright spaceship in the country. USC & Space Force University Partnership Program
Space is an ever-evolving frontier, and active research must be conducted to ensure the United States remains a leader in this domain. With a new research partnership between the United States Space Force and USC, there has never been a better time to be a Trojan. USC is one of only 14 universities across the United States to join the USSF’s University Partnership Program, which will support the development of space-related research projects at USC. This partnership bolsters USC’s already extensive space research focus to include USC’s Information Sciences Institute’s Space Engineering Research Center and USC’s Institute of Creative Technologies, both of which conduct Department of Defense-sponsored research across multiple disciplines.

Detachment 060 is proud to be a partner detachment with i5 Space, a national student organization that operates under the U.S. Space Force’s Space Training and Readiness and Command (STARCOM). i5 in partnership with Detachment 060 delivers educational, training, and professional development resources to students who are interested in pursuing a career in the United States Space Force.
